Man crashes on I-35 while driving to hospital after being shot

Dallas police said they had to shut down southbound lanes of I-35 to investigate after a shooting victim crashed while driving to a hospital early Saturday morning.

DALLAS - Dallas police said they had to shut down part of I-35 to investigate after a shooting victim crashed while driving to a hospital early Saturday morning.

The crash happened at about 2 a.m., in the southbound lanes of the interstate, near Empire Central Place.

First responders found a man in a black SUV that had a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Police were called to the scene. Investigators believe the man was trying to drive himself to a hospital after being shot at a different location.

It is unclear what led up to the shooting or where the shooting happened.

No arrests have been made.
