It was a stormy night across North Texas with more rain, high winds, large hail, powerful lightning and one possible tornado.
Heavy rain flooded roads around Arlington. One driver along Johnson Creek managed to get through the water in a pickup truck, but the next decided not to chance it.
Some people who live in the area say flooded roads made it difficult to leave.
"They blocked Abrams Street. They blocked over here where my street is and they told people not to drive in because they might be taken away," said Alfredo Castonon.
Arlington police kept a close eye on areas that often flood, like East Abrams Street near Meadowbrook Golf Course.
The storms produced spectacular lightning and many viewers shared photos and video on FOX 4's Facebook page.
The roof of a condo complex on Inwood Road in northwest Dallas caught fire when it was struck. The owners were not home, but their two dogs died.
"A neighbor called 911 after he heard the strike, went outside and saw smoke coming from the roof. By the time our crews got here there was already fire coming out of the rear of the building," said Jason Evans, a spokesman for Dallas Fire-Rescue.
Estimated winds reached close to 70 mph in parts of Dallas and Waxahachie.
A possible rain-wrapped tornado was spotted near Gordon around 6:30 p.m., and a tornado warning was issued for Palo Pinto and Erath counties.
A family traveling from Oklahoma took shelter in a truck stop along I-20 and waited for the storm to pass before getting back on the road.
"Yeah, we've been going through a bunch of flooding up there and we're trying to go somewhere nice… like Texas," Levi Griggs said.
Large hail also fell on Stephenville in Erath County, southwest of Fort Worth.
