DALLAS - One student was removed from campus after threatening to bring a gun to school on Friday.
It was a marked decline in incidents just one day after five North Texas teens were arrested for either bringing a gun on campus or making threats deemed credible by authorities.
Police said the 12-year-old student at Uplift Summit Prep in Arlington was removed from campus on Friday for threatening to bring a weapon to school. He was not arrested by Arlington police and no weapon was found.
Arlington police say although there were threats or posts involving social media, no guns were found at any of the schools where they've responded in the last two days.
Arlington police say they investigated a dozen threats at schools in 2017, compared to the five they've investigated in just two days.
Schools where arrests were made on Thursday for a gun on campus -- Flower Mound Marcus, Plano West and South Garland -- had extra police on hand to reassure students on Friday.
All of the activity comes just days after a gunman killed 17 people at a South Florida high school.
