ROCKWALL, Texas - Rockwall Police have stepped up patrols after an 11-year-old boy said a man pulled up in his SUV and asked him to get in.
Police say the stranger approached 11-year-old Trent Head in the Lakeview Summit Neighborhood last Wednesday. It's not far from Hartman Elementary School and happened not long after school let out. The man's vehicle was described as a white, small SUV. The boy told police the man talked to him through the window and asked him to ride with him.
"I couldn't hear him the first time so I said 'what' twice and he finally speaked up a little louder and he said, he said, can you help me find these kids on two black bikes. And I said 'uh, no'. And I ran off," Head said.
Head told police the man had pale make-up and what looked like a gray wig, as if he was trying to look old. He believes the man was trying to lure him closer.
"He was whispering and I couldn't hear him and that he was trying to make me come closer and closer to him, to get me, to snatch me up," he said.
Rockwall police confirms it's investigating the case. The department stepped up patrols in the neighborhood and at area schools. A police spokesman says as of now there are no new leads.
Trey's parents are thankful their son is safe and say he did everything right. They're hopeful police can figure out who the suspicious person is.
"I think it's just too overwhelming to think that your child could be taken and what then? Really I don't know where you would start if something like that happened," said Kate Head.
