Dallas police say they are closing monitoring the Oak Cliff ear near I-35 E after several people say someone is throwing rocks at their cars.

At least four people have called to report it happening to them in just the past week. It was around midnight late Thursday night when the latest incident happened. They say it happened as they came under an overpass and heard what sounded like an explosion

When one woman talked with officers, she learned she wasn't the only one this has happened too.

It was at first an ordinary trip up I-35 E through Oak Cliff for Yolanda Munoz and her daughter, Sydney.

“All of a sudden, we heard a loud bang,” she recalled. “At first, I thought maybe my tire was blown out.”

Yolanda had just passed under the Louisiana Avenue overpass. She let off the gas to see if it was the tire. When she realized it wasn't, her maternal fears jumped to the worst conclusion.

“Automatically, I thought shots were fired toward our vehicle,” she said. “And I got scared.”

“I just saw a panic,” Sydney recalled. “Like she was washed out. Like she was super scared.”

“In my mind, I’m thinking she hasn't realized she's been shot,” Yolanda said. “I can just drive her to the hospital. Let me just keep my calm and make sure she is okay.”

Realizing her daughter was okay, Yolanda kept driving. They stopped at a gas station and saw dents and scratches along the passenger side. When she talked with an officer, she found out she wasn't alone.

Dallas police say in the last week there were three additional calls or reports of people throwing rocks or concrete at cars. All of them happened either right along I-35 E or the East Oak Cliff neighborhood along it. Police say the only suspect descriptions they have is that it’s one or two guys doing it.

Yolanda is grateful she and her daughter are okay. Now, her maternal instincts are set on figuring out who is behind this.

“It’s not fun and games, especially when it’s a mother trying to protect her child,” she said. “They will do anything to make sure they find out who it was that almost caused bodily injury to their child.”

Yolanda says she talked with another person through Facebook that also had this happen to them around 5 a.m. last week. The person said their windshield was shattered.
