RICHARDSON, Texas - A Richardson police chase involving a murder suspect came to a deadly end in Dallas.
Just before 4 p.m., Richardson police say they tried to pull over an SUV after a run of its license plate came back to a vehicle of interest in a Kaufman County murder that happened over the weekend.
Police say the driver took off, and a police chase began.
During the chase, police say the driver shot at a marked Richardson police vehicle, and the officer returned gunfire.
A woman in the passenger seat, a 5-year-old child and two teenagers were also in the SUV during the chase.
Police say the woman was shot twice by the driver, and the driver then shot himself while he was driving. The chase came to an end near the High Five Interchange in Dallas.
The female passenger was taken to a hospital. The children were unharmed.
Dallas police are conducting the criminal investigation.
The Richardson officer is on routine administrative leave.
No officers were hurt.
