UPDATE 7/2:  Sha'Carri Richardson officially suspended, will miss Olympic 100 after drug test

----------
Track and field star and Dallas native Sha'Carri Richardson could be suspended from the Olympics after failing a drug test.

The sprinter confirmed she tested positive marijuana, not performance-enhancing drugs.

The failed drug test could still mean a 30-day suspension that would make her miss the women’s 100-meter race in Tokyo.

She may be eligible for a relay that would happen after 30 days.

Thursday afternoon, Richardson cryptically tweeted: "I am human."

She told NBC it was after her biological mother died, even though she knew it was banned.

The 21-year-old Dallas Carter High graduate said she will take responsibility for her actions that could cost her a chance to compete and millions in endorsements.

Reuters reported Richardson was off the roster for a competition this weekend.

Richardson qualified for the Olympics with a standout performance at the United States trials in Oregon late last month.
