PLANO, Texas - A 39-year-old man who was in the U.S. after previously being deported following convictions in 2017 was sentenced to 99 years in prison without the possibility of parole for sexual abuse of a child in Plano.
Ismael Lopez was given the sentence after being found guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child. The sentence for that charge comes without the possibility of parole
According to Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis, Lopez was close with the victim’s family, and the abuse happened for three years, until the child was 13 years old.
Lopez reportedly told the victim not to tell anyone, but the abuse was reported to Plano police after the child told a family member.
Following a forensic interview with the victim, Lopez was arrested.
During sentencing, it was announced that Lopez had previous convictions for assault, driving while intoxicated, and possession of a controlled substance.
He was sentenced to prison time on those convictions and released to federal immigration custody in 2017.
Lopez was deported, but re-entered the U.S.
