NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Police made a daring rescue of a man who was threatening to jump from the second floor of a Long Island mall.
It happened Monday morning that the Gallery of Westbury Plaza in East Garden City. Police responded to the mall on Old Country Road for a report of a distraught 57 year old mam who was threatening to jump from a second floor elevated platform.
Officers found the man and started talking to him from the lower level, assuring him they were there to help. Two officers on the upper level saw that the man was holding on to a railing as they were communicating with him.
When he removed his hands from the railing they thought that the man was getting ready to jump. the two officers raced to him and pulled him back to safety.
The man was transported to a hospital for evaluation. There were no other injuries reported.
