Plano woman who hit girl had just left the school: police

Plano police said the woman accused of hitting a girl walking to school had just dropped a child off at the same school before the incident occurred.

A Plano woman accused of hitting a child walking to school and driving off has been released on bond.

What We Know: Zulma Beltran, 49, is charged with collision involving personal injury after allegedly hitting a 12-year-old walking to Wilson Middle School on Dec. 10.

Beltran was arrested on Dec. 26 after video of the incident was shared online and the community gave several tips to police.

Beltran posted $50,000 bond and was released on Dec. 30.

Under the conditions of the bond, Beltran is not allowed to have contact with the girl or possess deadly weapons and must submit to testing for controlled substances.

WATCH: Child hit by a car in Plano, driver leaves scene

A young child was hit by a black SUV in Plano on Westridge Drive and Wilson Drive around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police are asking for help finding the driver.

The Backstory: On Dec. 10, a camera captured video of the SUV hitting the 12-year-old girl as she crossed Westridge Drive on her way to Wilson Middle School.

The video shows what appears to be a Buick Enclave hit the girl, back up and then drive away. The girl screams as she’s thrown several feet. She can be heard crying as she gets up and limps towards school.

The girl's family told FOX 4 she was not seriously hurt. She made it to school that morning and then reported what happened to her school resource officer.

Police had previously identified Beltran as the driver and said she admitted what she did to police.

Collision involving personal injury is a third-degree felony.
