Plano police are investigating after officers found a person fatally shot in an alleyway Tuesday evening.

What we know:

Plano police officers and Plano Fire-Rescue personnel responded to a shooting in the 900 block of Middle Cove Drive around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 13.

When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound in the alleyway behind a home. Officials declared the victim dead at the scene.

Police say the victim regularly cut hair out of the garage near the house where he was shot.

A person of interest has been identified that knew the victim. Plano Police tell FOX 4 they do not believe drugs were not involved in the shooting.

The Crimes Against Persons Unit is actively investigating the incident.

What we don't know:

Police have not released the victim's identity.

Authorities have not released any details about a potential motive.

What they're saying:

"We want to make sure that the victim and the victim’s family …get justice for what’s been done to him," Plano Police PIO Jerry Minton tells FOX 4's David Sentendrey.

Ashley Chiechi says she heard a woman screaming while walking her dog near the house, only to see first responders doing chest compressions on the victim.

"I mean it’s really sad, it’s really unfortunate and it’s really surprising because so far as long as we’ve lived here it’s been really quiet. Like we would never expect anything like that to happen around here."
