Overhead sign damaged in fatal I-20 crash
DALLAS - Part of Interstate 20 will be shut down Friday morning because an overhead sign was damaged in a fatal accident.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened before 3 a.m. on westbound I-20 near Highway 310 in Hutchins.
It’s not yet clear what caused it. When deputies arrived they found an overturned pickup truck down an embankment. The male driver had already died, the sheriff’s office said.
The interstate was initially shut down for an investigation and now may be shut down for most of the morning.
Texas Department of Transportation said the truck hit a large overhead sign support and caused major damage. That sign will need to be removed.
All westbound lanes of I-20 will be closed at Dowdy Ferry Road. Traffic will be forced to take the exit as a detour.
