Man killed in Fort Worth police shooting after charging officers with knives
What we know:
Fort Worth, TX - A man was shot and killed by Fort Worth police early Wednesday after charging at officers with knives during a domestic disturbance.
Police responded to a 911 call just before 4:30 a.m. in the 5800 block of Westgate Drive.
When officers arrived, the caller opened the front door to let them in but struggled to unlock a second metal screen door. While at the door, officers saw a man inside the home holding knives and acting aggressively toward others in the house.
Officers moved away from the front of the home to avoid escalating the situation and went to the back, where they forced their way inside to protect the people inside.
The man charged at officers with knives in hand. Police opened fire, killing him at the scene.
No officers or residents inside the home were injured.
What we don't know:
The identity of the man has not been released.
It is unclear how many people were in the home at the time of the incident.
The circumstances leading up to the disturbance remain unknown.
