New surveillance video released in Missy Bevers murder investigation

Midlothian police have shared previously unreleased surveillance video of the suspect accused of murdering Missy Bevers.

Assistant Chief Kevin Johnson says the department is working on numerous leads and working to track down every lead. He says the department received hundreds of tips from across the state.

Johnson said the department is convinced someone knows who Missy’s killer is and have not come forward. He pleaded the public to take a closer look at the video to help identify the suspect.

The 45-year-old fitness coach was found murdered Monday morning at the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian around 5 a.m. She was at the church preparing for her morning fitness class.

Surveillance video showed an unknown suspect dressed in police-type clothing wandering inside the church. The suspect was wearing full tactical gear with a heavy vest, helmet, shin guards, gloves and ‘POLICE’ on the front.

Police are still not able to confirm if the suspect is a man or a woman.

Missy's husband, Brandon, arrived home late Monday afternoon from a trip to Mississippi. He would not talk about details of the investigation but said he's having trouble absorbing his grief, focusing now on their daughters - 15, 13 and 8.

A search warrant released Thursday revealed Missy died from a head wound from an unknown instrument.

Police also searched Missy's gray Ford F150, her receipts, writings, an iPad, personal notes, credit cards, identifying information, bank statements and other electronic devices.

Missy’s sister-in-law, Kristi Sout, says the family has been in contact with police and thought police had a strong lead yesterday but it didn’t pan out. She says hearing the news that there is not a strong suspect is devastating

“As long as we're together everybody is okay,” said Stout. “I think tonight and tomorrow will be extremely difficult, and that's when the real pain will set in.”

A private family viewing for Missy will be held Friday. Funeral services are set for Saturday.

A fund for donations has been established for Missy and Brandon's three daughters under 'Bevers Childen Account' at Citizens National Bank.
