Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile Virus in parts of Dallas

The city of Dallas will spray some areas for mosquitos after recent samples tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Trucks will spray Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. weather permitting.

Areas include Midvale Drive to the north and Seaside Drive to the south, just west of Interstate 35 in the Red Bird area.

They’ll also spray in parts of West Dallas and the Pleasant Grove area.

Canadian wildfire smoke seen on East Coast has made its way to Texas

The orange images from the East Coast look unreal, with the wildfire smoke making the skyscrapers in New York City disappear. Some smoke from the same fires has reached North Texas, but there are other reasons our air quality is suffering.

People who live in those areas are urged to stay indoors while the trucks are spraying.

They’re also encouraged to use bug sprays or other protection against mosquito bites.
