The Dallas Zoo’s popular monorail reopens Friday after a $3 million renovation.

The monorail is now called the Wilds of Africa Safari Adventure. It had its electrical and mechanical systems updated and onboard air conditioning was added.

The monorail gives visitors a look at six habitats that can’t be seen by walking through the zoo.

Before the upgrades, the 25-year-old system broke down frequently. In August of 2014 the zoo had to remove animals from exhibits so Dallas Fire Rescue could come in and rescue stranded riders.
