Man shot after stabbing police officer

A man is dead after police say he stabbed a Fort Worth police officer.

The incident started around 4:00 a.m. Saturday when a Fort Worth police officer was in the process of a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Northeast 36th St.

A physical fight started between the driver and the police officer. The officer was stabbed several times in the leg, according to Fort Worth police.

Then the officer shot and killed the driver. The officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, according to Fort Worth police.

The officer is now on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in an incident like this.
