Dallas Police are investigating a man’s report that a woman he invited into his uptown condo drugged him and stole his puppy.
Dan King gave surveillance pictures to police. He says his story is getting circulation, but what he wants most is to be reunited with his dog.
Police believe the crime could be linked to at least two other similar incidents. According to the reports, this woman targets men at bars in uptown, goes home with them, then steals their belongings.
King says he was out with friends at Sidebar in Uptown Dallas Tuesday, when a woman approached him. He invited her back to his condo at the W.
“Her and I got in an Uber to come back. I was expecting other people to join us. Those other people never came, and we fixed a drink, or I should say, she fixed me a drink,” said King.
King did not get a blood test, but believes he was drugged because next thing he knew the concierge was banging on his door the next morning. The concierge told him his guest had just left the building with his 10-week-old puppy, Daisy.
“I was just in complete shock. What? I didn't really understand what she meant,” he said.
The woman was caught on surveillance with the baby bulldog tucked under her arm. King also noticed his condo was ransacked, with watches, jewelry and cash missing. Drawers had been pillaged and things had been gone through.
Police dusted for fingerprints, and detectives are now investigating whether this woman has done this before in uptown.
“I think men; we don't think twice about stuff like that. It's like, it could never happen to us. How could it happen to us?” said King.
King says the theft is not only affecting him, but his older bulldog, Diesel, who misses Daisy.
“The reason I got her was to really get him a companion, so losing her is really hard for both of us,”
The detective working this case says he does believe King was drugged, but it's too early to link this theft to other cases.
