Dallas police officer gets in shootout with carjackers

Officer Nathaniel Chapman was in an unmarked car conducting surveillance near Northwest Highway and Harry Hines Boulevard when a car pulled up behind him, blocking him in.

One of three men arrested for carjacking and shooting an undercover Dallas police officer was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Redtravion Polk was one of three men arrested for traveling from Louisiana to Dallas to commit a carjacking. They ended up targeting undercover Dallas Police Officer Nathaniel Chapman.

During a shooting, Chapman was hit in the leg.

Police say a dropped cell phone helped lead them to the suspects.

The other two men, Redricous Lewis and Xavier Cook, are still waiting to go on trial.
