Police have arrested a man for his connection in two Dallas bank robberies.
Darius Lanar Whetstone, 27, was arrested on June 7 after a traffic stop on I-35E, shortly after allegedly robbing the BB&T bank in the 7300 block of N. Stemmons Freeway that morning.
Police think Whetstone is connected to a June 2 robbery in Old East Dallas, which occurred about 9 a.m. at the Capital One Bank in the 4100 block of Gaston Avenue.
Whetstone may also be responsible for robbing a Bank of America in the 4000 block of Cedar Springs in Oak Lawn on June 7, before he allegedly robbed the BB&T. A Bank of America spokeswoman said no one was hurt in the robbery.
In the Old East Dallas robbery, police said the suspect held a large kitchen knife against a bank employee’s back and demanded money. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.
