DALLAS - A car crash in an East Oak Cliff neighborhood this weekend led to the discovery of a murder.
The victim was a 17-year-old Carter High School football player. Police believe his shooting death may have started as a robbery.
Dallas police were called to Easter Avenue, not far from E. Kiest Boulevard, just before 9 p.m. Sunday for a car that had crashed.
Police say 17-year-old Keymere McCriston was found shot inside the vehicle.

McCriston’s car had crashed into a white car parked in the neighborhood. He and the passenger were taken to the hospital.
McCriston died from his injuries, and the other teenager was treated and released.
Dallas police believe the two teenagers were shot during a robbery, but they didn't say what was stolen, if anything.
Police did not say where the robbery took place and how close it was to the crash. Police also didn’t say if the teenagers knew who robbed them.
Neighbors recall hearing the crash.
"The one big boom. The first thing I thought was, ‘Oh my gosh! Did they hit my car?’ Because it was just that loud," said neighbor Denise Waters. "I did see the SUV smashed up and somebody was screaming, ‘Someone’s gotten shot!’"
Neighbors say McCriston’s car hit two telephone poles before hitting the parked car. The street lost power until 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Dallas ISD confirmed McCriston was a student at Carter High School. He was a member of the football team.
Dallas police did not announce any arrests or if they have any suspects in the case.
