The family of a teen killed by a hit during a football game has donated his brain to science.
Aaron Singleton, 15, died in the hospital a day after he took a hard hit during a Joshua High School JV football game against Cleburne High School last week.
His uncle said Thursday Aaron's brain was donated to National Institute of Health to do research on football injury related deaths. His mother donated his other organs so others could have a chance to live.
Friends and teammates gather at the school for Singleton’s funeral on Thursday. The students were joined by many in the community who came to say goodbye to someone everyone describes as a remarkable young man.
"To be sure he impacted and influenced and inspired thousands of people as evident here today he and his family they have a great legacy and Aaron will as well the way he lived is the way all of us should strive to be and live that way,” said J.D. Mayo, Joshua High School Basketball Coach.
Singleton played football, baseball and track. He also sang in the varsity choir and played French horn in the band.
