Inmate dies in custody at North Richland Hills jail
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - North Richland Hills police are investigating the death of an inmate in the city’s jail.
What We Know: The 47-year-old man was arrested by the Watauga Police Department on a DWI charge on New Year’s Eve.
He was booked into the North Richland Hills Detention Facility around 4 p.m. that afternoon.
The following morning, he was found unresponsive in his bed in the jail cell.
The inmate was given CPR and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 10 a.m.
What We Don’t Know: Police have not yet released the inmate’s name.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office is still working to determine his cause of death.
The police department is also conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
