Hometown Hero: Toy Giveaway
This is the 30th year the Mansfield community has banded together to make a difference for those less fortunate.
Mansfield’s annual toy giveaway will happen Dec. 22 for registered parents and grandparents. They'll get toys, clothes and food.
The Mansfield Police Department, the local Walmart, churches and residents make these donations. If you'd like to help, you can call Kathy Wooddell at 817-713-8643.
This is a year of sadness for the non-denominational church. Its founder, the Rev. Gary Whetzel, died in June at the age of 76. His widow, Kay, is strong and determined in her grief.
She's keeping the toy drive going and has plans to make it even bigger,
On Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon, Living Word Outreach will hold its "Second Chance.” The remaining toys will be given to parents free of charge on a first come, first served basis.
They must bring proof of income and the birth certificate for each child. The address is 107 North First Avenue in Mansfield.
Merry Christmas!
