Grapevine mayor pardons turkey ahead of Thanksgiving
GRAPEVINE, Texas - The self-proclaimed "Christmas Capital of Texas" kicked off the holiday season Monday morning with its traditional turkey pardon.
Grapevine Mayor William Tate pardoned Tom T. Turkey, saving him from the Thanksgiving table.
After the pardon, the mayor took the first North Pole Express ride of the year.
The city will flip the switch to light up Grapevine in millions of lights on Monday evening.
North Pole rides will be open to visitors starting Friday.
