A Granbury woman says she has to explain to her 6 and 4 year old girls why their father was shot and killed by Arizona Police.
Laney Sweet says her common law husband, Daniel Shaver, was in Mesa, Arizona for work.
He traveled with two pellet rifles because he works with pest control companies.
Mesa Police were called to the La Quinta Inn for a man pointing a rifle out of the fifth floor window.
Detectives ordered Shaver and another woman out into the hall.
The woman went with officers quickly, but police say Shaver did not completely comply with multiple commands.
Police say he put his hands behind him, toward his lower more than once.
Detectives felt threatened and fired, killing Shaver.
Laney Sweet says the couples two daughters are having a tough time dealing with Shaver's death.
A Mesa Police Detective didn't confirm how many shots were fired, but Sweet says the coroner told her he had been shot multiple times.
