Frisco police say a burglar was taken to the hospital after he was shot by a homeowner on Sunday night.

A resident called 911 to report suspicious activity at a home on Belfort Drive, not far from Hillcrest Road, just after 8 p.m.

That person told police dispatch that someone had broken into their backyard, pulled a ladder off the house and used it to break a window.

As police approached the home, they heard gunshots.

Crews found 18-year-old Clinton Montgomery, from North Richland Hills, in the home with a gunshot wound.

Frisco PD says Montgomery was trying to enter the home when he was shot.

Montgomery was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
