FOX 4 is learning more about the Forest Hill couple who was killed when the car they were riding in was hit by a suspected drunk driver.
People who know the couple say they were inseparable and never ventured outside of their suburban Fort Worth community, but on the night of the crash, they were on the way to the hospital.
George Moon, 76, and his 63-year-old wife Beverly, whom friends called Gayle, were killed in the crash that happened early Sunday morning.
The two were inseparable.
Friends say that a niece and her daughter went at 3 a.m. to take George and Gayle to the hospital. George was having trouble breathing.
On their way, the car they were in was hit by a suspected drunk driver.
Forest Hill police say the other two people in the car were injured.
The man accused of crashing into them with his SUV is 23-year-old Jose Salinas-Gomez. He’s been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
“Gayle was at my store and George had gone to the car, and Gayle said, ‘I don't know what would happen to me if George were to pass,’” said Stephanie Boardingham, a friend of the couple. “And when I heard the news they had passed together…we had just had that conversation."
George and Gayle met friends for coffee every day. It’s how they met, when Gayle was a server at a restaurant.
“George was a regular coffee drinker, so George started going in Beefer’s to drink his coffee and the love just took off from there and it blossomed,” said Boardingham.
Friends say George loved to dance when he was younger.
Gayle loved music, and together, they still watched old westerns on a VHS player.
“They were together every day after the day they met,” said Boardingham. “That was it."
