Fort Worth Shooting: 1 dead, 4 injured
1 person was killed and 4 others were injured in a shooting outside a Fort Worth home. Police say the shooting started as and argument inside the house about a missing item and came to a violence conclusion with more than 30 shots fired.
FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth police are investigating a shooting late Saturday night that left one person dead, one critically injured, and sent three others to a hospital.
The shooting happened just after 11 p.m., when police were called to the 9300 block of Cynthia Court.
Responding officers found five people who had been shot.
One was pronounced dead at the scene, and the four others were taken to a hospital. Police said one was in critical condition and the other three had non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators said the shooting happened after a "dispute."
A spokesperson for Fort Worth PD said there was an argument over an item that was missing from the home.
It then spilled out to the front yard, and that's when the shooting happened.
Investigators are working to find out more information about the missing item and what led to the argument.
Fort Worth police release body camera video of shootout with burglary suspect
Fort Worth police released video showing parts of a shootout with a burglary suspect that ended with the suspect taking his own life.
A neighbor said his wife and kids got home five minutes before the shooting happened, adding it sounded like more than 30 gunshots.
"Well after the arguing, we heard 30 shots fired and people screaming. While the shots started going off, we went running inside and called 911 right away," said Jose Diaz, who lives down the street.
Diaz and his family were in the garage when they heard the gunshots.
"Just afraid. I was afraid. That’s basically it. I couldn’t believe something like that would happen," he said.
The family’s security camera recorded the shooting, and the video shows a car speeding down the street and almost missing a turn.
Stray bullets hit several cars, including two parked in Diaz’s driveway. One of those vehicles was one his wife and kids had been in just minutes before the shooting.
"[A bullet] went straight into the headrest," he said. "[My wife] was driving it with both of my kids in here."
Diaz is thankful his family is safe.
While he doesn’t know what the group was arguing about, he doesn’t think somebody deserved to lose their life.
"It’s stupid. I mean, to fight over something that’s missing and just start shooting, something missing, okay. Just get over it. Something missing is replaceable, not somebody’s life," he said.
Fort Worth police said they are looking for multiple suspects.
No one is in custody at this time.
