Fort Worth police cadet, 2 firefighters struck by lightning while training
FORT WORTH, Texas - Two Fort Worth firefighters and a Fort Worth police cadet were struck by lightning at the Public Safety Training Center in Fort Worth Friday morning.
The two firefighters were treated at the scene and released.
The police cadet was transported to the hospital as a precaution, but did not appear seriously hurt.
He was running with other cadets when he was hit.
The firefighters were putting away their equipment after training had been called off due to the storm.
"As soon as we heard the call go out, our training staff immediately came outside to see what assistance we could provide, and we do have a fire station attached to this facility, so it was within a minute, or there abouts, that we were able to respond," said James McAmis, with the Fort Worth Fire Department.
The firefighters and police cadets were several yards away from each other when the lightning bolt hit.
