DALLAS - The Garland Independent School District’s former human resources director was sentenced to two years in federal prison for fraud in hiring hundreds of foreign teachers.
Victor Leos pleaded guilty to the charges in May. He was sentenced Monday.
The teachers were told they would get permanent U.S. residency if they came to the Garland school district. That was not the case. Many had to return to their home countries.
In addition to the prison sentence, Leos was ordered to pay more than $300,000 in restitution.
