DALLAS - Dallas County health officials report a current spike in flu cases.
Nearly 1,000 patients have tested positive since September. More than 400 of those cases were reported just in the last two weeks.
The peak of the flu season is typically over by the end of February, but it can linger beyond that.
Doctors have said this year’s flu vaccine has been about 60 percent effective. Last year doctors did not include some of the correct strains in the vaccine and it was only about 20 percent effective.
Only one person has died from the illness so far this year.
