The first direct American Airlines flight from Paris since the deadly attacks returned to DFW Airport today.
The flight from Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris was canceled Saturday, but landed in Dallas on Sunday afternoon.
Hundreds also gathered Sunday night to honor the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks in downtown Dallas. They lit candles and observed a moment of silence for the dead.
"We are touched, very touched. There is lots of solidarity in the world so thank you, everyone," said Beatrice Recoussine with the Alliance Francaise de Dallas.
Meanwhile, at DFW airport, family members welcomed home loves ones from Paris.
Returning passengers say they were eating dinner when the attacks started.
"There was more confusion than anything, as we got up from the restaurant. We heard lots of police sirens going on everywhere. We had plans to go for a big night Friday night, but we decided to stay local. We actually ducked into a bar," said Michael Herrman.
Denny Hunt hugged his wife after her return from a Paris vacation.
He learned of the attacks sitting in a deer blind.
"I had my iPhone and i started checking what was going on. then i got panicky, tried to call her, couldn't get through," said Hunt.
He finally heard from her after several tense hours.
The returning passengers all expressed their deep regret and sorrow for the French people, and their admiration for how they're responding in the face of tragedy.
