GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - A popular flea market in Grand Prairie caught fire Friday morning and one of its buildings was destroyed.
The Grand Prairie Fire Department said the two-alarm fire at Traders Village on Mayfield Road started around 7:30 a.m.
A 100-foot long building that holds multiple booths for vendors was filled with flames and heavy black smoke. The fire was contained to that one building, but the chief called it a total loss.
The market is only open on the weekends, so no one was inside at the time and no one was hurt.
Jerry Holt, a spokesman for Traders Village, said the market will still be open this weekend. The building that was destroyed will be fenced off for safety and vendors will conduct business as usual in other areas.
"We will be open for business tomorrow as usual. As a matter of fact, we have country concerts scheduled tomorrow on our big red patio and those will go on as normal," Holt said.
It’s not yet clear what caused the fire.
