Two police officers were hurt when a suspected drunken driver slammed into their squad car in West Dallas.

It happened around 2 a.m. Monday. The officers had stopped to help a person with a blown tire on the Commerce Street bridge. The driver of a Mercury Marquis hit their car even though they had their flashing lights on.

The officers were taken to the hospital with neck and back injuries. The stranded driver was not hurt.

The driver who hit them was arrested after failing a field sobriety test. The charges against him could be upgraded depending on the severity of the officers’ injuries.
