DALLAS - Dallas and Fort Worth leaders submitted a regional pitch to try to convince Amazon to build its second headquarters in North Texas.
The bids were due Thursday. The Dallas Regional Chamber and the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce said leaders worked together to submit a proposal for the whole metropolitan area.
“I love DFW because it’s vibrant. If you can’t find it here you can’t find it anywhere in the world,” said Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price in the proposal video.
"It's always great to pursue opportunities like this with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, and the professionals that conduct economic development for our regional cities," said Mike Rosa, senior vice president of economic development at the Dallas Regional Chamber. "Working together, we've had a lot of success bringing new jobs, companies and investment here. I'm confident we've shared with Amazon all the things that have made this region a great place for corporate headquarters location."
Since Amazon announced it would take bids for its second headquarters last month, dozens of developers and cities have thrown their names in the hat.
Cities like Austin and Philadelphia and regional areas of Minnesota and North Carolina are eager for the 50,000 jobs that would come with the company.
Yet, some cities like San Antonio bowed out last week. Leaders there penned a letter to Amazon bringing up concerns over large tax breaks and incentives, saying “blindly giving away the farm isn't our style."
Amazon has not said when it will make its decision.
