DALLAS - Get ready for a soggy start to the weekend! While Easter Sunday is expected to remain dry, the days leading up to the holiday bring heavy rain and the threat of severe weather.

Friday begins quietly, but scattered showers and thunderstorms will return by late afternoon. Storm coverage will increase Friday evening, with some storms becoming strong to severe.
The greatest risk for severe activity is located northwest of the Metroplex. The primary hazards with these storms include damaging winds, large hail, localized flooding and a low tornado threat.

Easter Weekend Forecast
A cold front will trigger additional heavy rain and storms through the first half of Saturday. While the severe weather threat is low, the flood threat is increasing. The National Weather Service reports high confidence that localized rain totals will exceed 3 inches.
Isolated areas north of I-20 and west of I-35 could see totals between 3 and 5 inches. Conditions will slowly dry out Saturday afternoon from northwest to southeast.
Easter Sunday will be dry but cool and mostly cloudy. Expect highs in the upper 60s and low 70s with light winds around 10 mph.
7-Day Forecast

Following the holiday, North Texas will enjoy several comfortable, dry days. Low rain chances return Thursday as a potentially active weather pattern develops, with additional rain chances expected next Sunday.
