17-year-old David Washington, a senior at Dallas ISD's Kimball High School, was shot and killed at a gas station on Friday night.

Dallas police have announced the arrest of a 16-year-old in connection to a deadly shooting in South Dallas on Friday night.

17-year-old David Washington was shot and killed at the Love's gas station on Polk Street.

Dallas ISD confirmed to FOX 4 that Washington was a senior at Kimball High School and played on the football team.

According to Dallas police, a large crowd gathered at the gas station across the street from John Kincaide Stadium just before 11 p.m. on Friday.

Duncanville beat South Oak Cliff in a game at the stadium on Friday night.

Police say a group of people started following Washington and a fight started.

Someone pulled out a gun and shot the teen.

Washington was taken to the hospital where he died.

16-year-old arrested for Kimball H.S. student's murder

Dallas police arrested a 16-year-old suspect for the murder of a Dallas ISD student over the weekend. Investigators said it happened outside a gas station late Friday night.

On Saturday, police arrested a 16-year-old and charged them with murder.

Dallas City Councilman Tennell Atkins represents District 8, where the shooting happened.

Atkins said he wants to create a safe zone for kids in that area.

"Because football is going up, it's kind of getting out of hand right now. And when you lose a life there, you want to blame everyone, but let this be a lesson about how can we solve the problem going forward," Atkins said.

At this point, FOX 4 does not know if Washington went to the football game on Friday night or if he knew the group of people following him.

Police did not identify the 16-year-old due to their age.

According to a community post on social media, there will be a balloon release for Washington at Kimball High School on Monday night.
