HUNT CO - An off-duty Dallas police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash in Hunt County.
What We Know: According to the state troopers, the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday on State Highway 276, about a mile and a half south of Union Valley, Texas.
Officer Gabriel Bixby was reportedly on his motorcycle and collided with the driver of a Honda Accord that turned in front of him.
The 85-year-old driver in the Accord was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The 29-year-old officer was pronounced dead at the scene.
Records show he lived in Quinlin, which is in southern Hunt County.
What People Are Saying: The Dallas Police Department said Bixby had served with the department since 2018 and was assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division.
"Anytime we lose an officer it’s heartbreaking. My heart goes out to the family and friends of Officer Bixby, along with the Northeast Patrol Division. Thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time," said Interim Dallas Police Chief Michael Igo.
