Police chase with stolen vehicle ends in Dallas with deadly head-on crash
DALLAS - A police chase ended with a deadly crash in Dallas on Saturday.
What We Know: The Fort Worth Police Department and the Texas Department of Safety were involved in a pursuit of an armed suspect inside of a stolen vehicle shortly after 1:30 p.m.
The vehicle traveled along Chisholm Trail Parkway in Fort Worth and made its way to Dallas.
The chase reached speeds of up to 120 miles per hour and the stolen 2024 Jeep Wagoneer cut aggressively across lanes. Police also noted that the Wagoneer drove on the inside and outside shoulders to avoid police.
The chase ended when the Jeep went the wrong way on the service road of I-35 and Inwood Road in Dallas and crashed head-on into 2015 Audi A4.
The driver of the Audi, Joel Jusino Bergollo, a 36-year-old from Downers Grover, Illinois was pronounced dead.
The suspect, Devonte Webber, was arrested and booked into the Dallas County Jail on charges of murder, evading arrest with a vehicle causing death, the unauthorized use of a vehicle and the unlawful carrying of a weapon.
The Wagoneer Webber was driving during the chase was reported stolen out of Chicago.
An arrest warrant affidavit states that Webber had fled from police in Burleson earlier in the day after allegedly committing a robbery.
A black Glock model .357 was also found in the car.
