Dallas ISD plans to turn some schools into child care centers
Some Dallas ISD schools could be used as child care facilities to help essential workers during the pandemic.
DALLAS - Some Dallas schools will be used as child care facilities to help essential workers. It's just one example of a way to try to make things easier for people who are trying to get through the coronavirus pandemic.
With essential workers in mind, the Dallas Independent School District plans to transform several of its schools into child care facilities. The change will benefit essential workers like first responders and healthcare workers.
The schools that will be participating are each near large medical centers.
The district said it is still working to decide who will provide cleaning services before and after hours of operation, as well as a nursing staff to check temperatures and have medication on hand.
There's also a plan to provide protective supplies to keep everyone healthy and safe.
The child care staff will go through extensive background checks and must have the proper licensing.
Meals and two snacks will be provided.
Dallas ISD plans to give more information about the plan at a news conference Monday morning.
