Dallas ICE office told to aim for 75 daily arrests: report

Each U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office, including Dallas, was told to aim for about 75 arrests per day, according to an internal weekend call among ICE officials, as reported by The Washington Post and FOX News.

What we know:

The Trump administration has pushed to substantially increase daily immigration arrests, according to reports.

FOX News Digital reported that the White House rejected the characterization of "quotas," but when asked about the report, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said, "‘Goals’ is the correct phrasing."

Raids have been ongoing nationwide for several days.

ICE's Goal for Dallas

ICE has 25 field offices across the U.S., each responsible for a designated area, along with 181 sub-field offices. Dallas is among the 25 main ICE field offices.

By the numbers:

  • The Trump administration has increased daily immigration arrests from a few hundred to at least 1,200 to 1,500 people.
  • ICE reported an average of 710 arrests per day from Thursday through Monday, up from a daily average of 311 in 12 months under President Joe Biden.
  • If this rate continues, it would surpass ICE’s previous high mark set under the Obama administration, which averaged 636 daily arrests in 2013.
  • More than 4,500 people have been arrested in the first week of Trump’s second term.
  • On Jan. 29, ICE reported 1,016 arrests nationwide.
