Fort Worth police said a clerk at an Auto Zone shot an "irate" customer who became "belligerent" Sunday morning.

The shooting happened just after 11 a.m., at the Auto Zone in the 8600 block of S. Hulen Street.

According to police, "an irate customer became belligerent towards the store employee" and started to pat himself down "as if he had a weapon."

The clerk then shot the man, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said the clerk is cooperating with them.

No further details have been released at this time.
