China halts Boeing jet orders after Trump slaps 145% tariffs on goods

China is stopping orders of Boeing aircraft in response to President Donald Trump levying 145% tariffs on Chinese goods.

According to Reuters, Boeing's year-to-date deliveries reveal that 18 aircraft have been delivered to nine Chinese airlines.
Chinas three major airlines: Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines, are planning to accept the delivery of 45, 53 and 81 Boeing planes between 2025-2027.

Beijing also requested that Chinese carriers stop buying aircraft-related equipment and parts from U.S. companies, which is projected to increase maintenance costs for the jets flying in the country, FOX Business noted, citing Bloomberg.

Last week, Trump said he was comfortable with the tariffs on China, and implied that a deal with Beijing might be imminent, but FOX Business reported that an agreement has not been reached. China recently raised taxes on U.S. imports to 125% in retaliation against tariffs imposed by the U.S.
