Carroll Middle School teacher arrested for alleged sex with former student

A teacher at Carroll Middle School is facing charges for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a former student.

Keller police arrested 45-year-old Angela Barnes on Monday.

They began investigating her in late September after receiving a tip that she was involved with an underage boy who was one of her former students at Carroll Middle School.

Detectives found evidence that Barnes had engaged in a sexual relationship with the teen between June and July of 2024, police said.

Police said they don’t believe there are any additional victims.

Carroll ISD has released the following statement:

Carroll ISD was recently notified by the Keller Police Department regarding the arrest of a female teacher at Carroll Middle School who faces charges of an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor.

Carroll ISD immediately placed this staff member on administrative leave and reported to the proper authorities. The District was made aware the alleged offense took place off-campus over the summer within the jurisdiction of the Keller Police Department. Based on the information we have received, no incidents occurred on CISD campuses. CISD is working in collaboration with Keller Police and Child Protective Services as they investigate the allegations.

The safety and security of all students is always our top priority and any allegations of adult misconduct are addressed promptly and reported immediately to the proper authorities. 

There are no further details to share at this time as the investigation continues.
