FORT WORTH, Texas - A Tarrant County jury has found a caretaker guilty of the death of a mentally disabled man who was left for hours in a hot SUV.
Debra King was convicted Thursday of criminally negligent homicide and injury to a disabled person.
Prosecutors said she was responsible for the care of 29-year-old Terrance Sanders in July of 2013. She left him in an SUV parked outside the Cherry Tree Residential Services, which is a group home in Arlington.
Another worker found Sanders’ body in the hot SUV. He had been in there for about five hours.
A judge is expected to sentence King. She’s facing up to 20 years between the two charges.
