Cane Rosso opens new rescue shelter

The gourmet pizza chain Cane Rosso is named after a red dog. The owner is taking his love for dogs a step further by opening a rescue shelter.

Jay Jerrier started taking in and adopting out dogs a few years ago, but it was all pretty informal.

Over the past two years, the Cane Rosso rescue group has saved and placed more than 100 dogs in forever homes.

“We really wanted to find a way to reach a broader audience and find a way to help more dogs. So the best and most insane way was to open our new rescue facility,” Jerrier said.

The new shelter on Main Street in Carrollton can hold about 20 dogs that need new homes.

Volunteers and donations are welcome. For more information, visit canerossorescue.com.
