Starting August 1, the Texas campus carry law will be expanded to community colleges.

That means those with concealed carry permits can bring their firearms on campus but there are still some restrictions in place.

Administrators are working to educate students on the law but many students are still trying to get use to the idea that classmates may be carrying.

"It does make me nervous," said Yesenia Guerrero.

Others are applauding the fact the law makes it legal for licensed handgun owner to carry a concealed weapon on campus.

"You so happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and it just so happened to be a criminal there and he so happens to try to attack you," said Francis Adams, "then the best thing for you to have is something to protect yourself."

At state universities the law is already a year old.

Community colleges were given until August 1 to prepare.

Tarrant County Community College will be posting signs around campus to educate students on where you can, and cannot carry under the law.

Areas where campus carry is allowed include classrooms, library facilities, and parking garages.

You still cannot carry a concealed weapon in counseling services areas, early college high school programs, or child care facilities.

Rifles are still not allowed on campus.
