Arlington man 'under emotional distress' arrested after shooting gun inside home, police say

A man who was firing a gun inside an Arlington home was arrested without incident after a brief police standup.

Arlington police say they were called to a home in the 3600 block of Sandhurst Drive on Monday around noon about a shooting.

When police arrived on scene, they learned a man ‘under emotional distress’ was inside the home with a gun.

Everyone else at the home made it outside safely, and no one was hurt.

Arlington police investigate double homicide at short-term rental

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that left two teenagers dead Saturday night.

Police say they tried to convince the man, later identified as 30-year-old Anthony McDonald, to put the gun down and come outside, but he initially refused.

Police said they asked neighbors to shelter in place as a precaution during the ordeal.

After about two hours, police say McDonald peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

McDonald was taken to the Arlington city jail and is charged with deadly conduct.

No injuries were reported.
