ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police are reviewing surveillance video after a store clerk fatally shot a man who he said tried to rob the store Monday night.
It happened around 7:45 p.m. Monday at the Super Save store near Abrams Street and Highway 360, near the General Motors Assembly Plant.
The clerk said two men walked in and one pulled out a gun. He shot the armed man.
A grand jury will likely look at the case to determine if the store clerk used justified force.
“But at the end of the day under Texas law you have the right to defend yourself and so all of that will be looked at. The clerk says this was a robbery attempt, that the suspect had a firearm. And so certainly if he feared for his life -- that will have to be determined based upon the interviews -- there's a chance that this force could be justified. But that's why a grand jury always looks at these types of cases and they make those decisions,” said Lt. Christopher Cook with the Arlington Police Department.
They detained the second man for questioning, but said it is still unclear if he was involved in the attempted robbery.
